A Survey on the Essential Experiences of CPC's Correct Understanding and Handling of Relationships between Nationalities Since the Founding of New China

建国以来,中国共产党在正确认识和处理民族关系问题上积累的经验,主要有:坚持把马克思主义基本原理同中国具体实际相结合,用中国化马克思主义的民族理论作为解决民族问题的根本指导思想;坚持和完善民族区域自治制度,走适合中国特点的民族发展道路;坚持反对民族问题上的两种错误倾向,全面贯彻党的民族政策。认真汲取这些经验,对新世纪新阶段构建社会主义和谐民族关系具有重大的理论价值和现实意义。

Since the founding of new China in 1949, the essential experiences of CPC＇s correct under- standing and handling of the relationships between nationalities can be summarized as follows. Firstly, the CPC persists in integrating the fundamental principles of Marxism with the specific practice in Chi- na and takes as its basic guideline the sinolized Marxist theories on nationalities in solving the relevant problems. Secondly, it has been adhering to and improving the autonomy system in the regions of mi- norities and follows a road which is suitable for the development of different nationalities in China. Lastly, the Party keeps opposing the two erroneous tendencies in dealing with the nationality problems and fully implements the Party＇s nationality policies. Learning from the experiences is of great theo- retical value and practical significance in constructing harmonious socialist relations among nationalities in the 21st century.
