Zhong Gong(《中弓》) in bamboo book from Shanghai museum with The Analects and research on the relevant questions

楚简《中弓》记录了孔子与弟子仲弓之间的对话,部分内容可与《论语.子路》"仲弓问政"章对读。孔子提出的"刑政不缓,德教不倦"的命题,与《论语》中孔子的德治思想差异明显,而与《孔子家语》一些篇章的主旨相通。以上情况表明《中弓》所记孔子言论恐非原貌,利用此类文献研究孔子思想时需要谨慎其事。

The bamboo book Zhong Gong recordes the dialogue between Confucius and Zhoug Gong, who was a student of his. One part of the book is same with the part of Zhoug Gong asking politics in The Analects, but the bamboo book is more detailed and some words that can be strung in The Analects are discrete. No forgiving penalty and no stopping moral culture that is said by Confucius in Zhong Gong is different with Confucius thought of rule of virtue, but is similar to some parts of Family Quotation of Confucius. According to the preface which maybe written by Kong Anguo, some discoursc of Confucius were amended and the thought trended to be mixed. So some words from Zhong Gong may be not the original condition, when somebody use them to study Confucius thought, they must be cautious.
