Recreations played an important role in farmers＇ daily lives in I.ate Medieval England. There were a wide variety of recreational activities in rural society, so England in traditional society was often called ＂ Happy England＂. As a positive life style, recreational activities not only enhanced the quality of farmers＇ lives but improved the development of rural society as well. The paper studies British farmers＇ recreational activities on each important occasion and religious festivals so as to examine the status of British farmers＇ leisure life in the later Middle Ages and explore the changes of British society.
