摘要
谁是最好的英语教师，是英语为母语的教师，还是英语为非母语的教师？该问题成为当前英语外语教学中热议的话题。研究发现，英语为母语的教师和英语非母语的教师在英语外语教学中均存在优势和弱势，只有具备相应的素质才能成为一名优秀的TEFL教师。
For quite a long time, whether native English speaking teachers or non-native English speaking teachers can be the best English teachers in teaching English as a foreign language （TEFL） has been argued. Some have the idea that native English speaking teachers are regarded as the preferred language teachers as a result of their providing a better model of the language. Others debate that non-native English speaking teachers should be considered more desirable, for they have a mastery of pedagogical skills and experience of being a learner of English. This paper mainly focuses on an analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of native speaker teachers of English, suggesting the attributes of a good English language teacher.
