Chinese-English translation of English for law is serious legal practice with the Chinese version of legal writing possessing the same legal effect as that of the English version. Hence, preciseness is the most fundamental requirement. This essay tentatively probes into these factors contributing to the impreciseness of such legal practice in the expectation that the quality of Chinese-English translation of English for law can be boosted to another higher level with the joint endeavor of academic and legal circles.
