目的论映照下的严复翻译策略解析

On Translation Strategies of Yan Fu in Light of Skopostheory

功能主义翻译目的论认为翻译方法或策略必须通过译文的预期目的或功能来决定。功能主义翻译目的论三个法则是:目的法则、连贯法则、忠实法则。依据目的论的基本原则重释了严复的"信达雅"翻译标准,并基于严复所处时代对翻译的特殊需要,从目的论视角解析了严复在译著《天演论》中为启发民智、保种自强所采取的翻译策略,即在内容上对原文有选择地进行取舍和改造,叙述人称用第三人称进行译叙,文体上采用古雅文体。

Skopostheory holds that translation methods or strategies should be determined by the intended function of the target text. This paper introduces three seedtimes of Functionalist Translation Theory and their principles. Then it reinterprets Yan Fu＇s translation criteria ＂faithfulness, expressiveness and gracefulness＂ from the perspective of Skopostheory. According to the specific history background of Yan Fu＇s translation, the author tries to analyze the translation strategies in his Evolution and Ethics with Skopostheory which are rebuilding original text selectively, narrating in third person, and adopting classical and artistic style.
