摘要
王尔德作品中贵族公子的语言充满了警句式的悖论。以往评论家认为王尔德所塑造的贵族公子形象是其唯美主义思想的代言人,但对其作品中人物警句式的悖论这个显著的文体特征缺乏深入系统的分析。王尔德笔下的贵族公子及其警句式的悖论可以被看作是其在文学创作中的一种修辞方法。运用美国当代修辞学家肯尼斯.伯克的"五位一体论"对他的这一修辞方法进行分析,可以揭示出王尔德及其笔下的人物试图通过这种艺术方式来建构超越中产阶级意识形态的贵族式优越感的创作意图。
Wilde in the real life and his dandies in the imaginary literary world frequently make epigrammatic paradoxes in their dialogues. While the critics regarded Wilde's dandies as his spokesmen on the one hand, they have ignored the academic study on the epigrammatic paradoxes as his peculiar stylistic feature on the other, not to mention a systematic study on them. In this paper, Wilde's dandies and the epigrammatic paradoxes will be viewed as Wilde's rhetoric device in the presentation of his literary creation. To analyze his rhetoric device, Kenneth Burke's "Pentad" will be applied in order to explore the motive hidden behind his stylistic feature. Through the rhetoric device, Wilde and his dandies, confronted with the rising middle class, try to construct superiority to them.
