The Teaching of History and the Quality-oriented Education in Middle Schools

中学历史的教育目的是培养学生的人文素质。历史教育所谓的人文素质极其丰富,它不仅是人文知识,更主要的是人文精神。它要求学生能对自身及生存环境有起码的认识,有道德感、有公民心,不仅关怀自我实现,而且关怀社会,甚至人类文明的前途。当今世界的竞争,就是人才竞争,人才竞争就是素质竞争。中学历史教学要充分认识到这一点,重视中学生素质的培养,使历史教学更具生命力和社会意义。

The purpose of history teaching in middle schools is to cultivate students＇ cultural and educational qualifies. Education in history is rich in resources of such qualifies. It is not only the humanistic knowledge, but mainly the humanistic spirits. It requires the students to have an elementary understanding of their own selves and of the environment where they live. They should have a sense of morality and a sense of citizenship, not only being coneemed about their own realities, but about the society, even about the future of human civilization. The competition in the present world is the competition between talents, which is in fact the competition with qualities. History teaching in middle schools is fully aware of this and attaches importance to the cultivation of students＇qualities. Thus the teaching of history has a better vitality and social significance.
