常州地处长江三角洲中心地带，是江苏重要工业城市，与上海、南京等距相望，交通十分便利。它也是近代工业发祥地，现代装备制造城，工业化经济与设计性特征非常突出。工业化经济的高速发展，带动了轻工业、软件业、电信业、建筑业、服务业、旅游业的发展，并形成了新的文化观念、设计理念、设计形式。
Located in the center of.the YAngtze Riyer Delta, Changzhou is an important industrial city in Jiangsu province. Its fa.st economic development provided the space and the platform for the development of its design industry and gave a. strong impetus to the design in Changzhou.
