释“齖(齒可)”

Explaining "Ya Qia(齖(齒可))"

对敦煌变文《齖(齒可)新妇文》中的"齖(齒可)"一词,学界向无确诂。考察与其相关的同源词,可知"齖(齒可)"的意思是女子凶狠、泼辣,而它的语源是牙齿不平正,张口露齿。

Up to now the word ＂YaQia （齖（Qia））＂ in Ya Qia Xin Fu Wen （ The Story About a Spiteful Daughter-in-law） of Dunhuang narrative literature has not be exegetically studied. This paper explains this word by studying some cognate words, and shows that the meaning of ＂YaQia＂, used to describe spiteful women, developed from the cognate meaning： snaggle tooth.
