Liu Shi- pei＇s art research focuses on revealing the lifeblood of Chinese cultural spirit rather than analyzing the artistic phenomenon itself. Through the research, he tried to accomplish the patriotic mission of national salvation. In the context of Eastward Spread of Western Culture, his research on the origin, change and geographical differences of art underlines his literary ideal of saving the country, and shows the transformational track and process from tradition to modern.
