中国古籍英语翻译初步研究

On English Translation of Chinese Ancient Books

中国古籍英译发端很早,近年又出现"热"势,近期研究呈现四个特点。中国古籍的地名英译主要用音译法和音译加直译法,物名英译主要用直译法,无对应英文词汇的用音译法并加注释。

There are four characteristics of English-Chinese Translation of ancient books. When handling the English translation of geographic names, we use transliteration, direct or literal translation and annotation; when dealing with the tranlation of natural science, we mainly adopt direct or literal translation. In adition, we use annotation and transliteration to tranlate those words without appropriate or available English words.
