摘要
Hiccup is an involuntary spasm of glottis and diaphragm, the giggling sound is short and in high frequency, in sever cases patients may have difficulty in talking, chewing, breathing and sleeping. In ancient Chinese literature hiccup is named as ＂Yue （哕） ＂. Occasional attack of hiccup often lasts from several minutes to a few hours which suggests a mild case and can be removed without medication, but if it persists, subsequent to other acute or chronic diseases, treatment is required. The author has adopted point injection of metoclopramide on Zusanli（足三里 ST 36） to treat 46 cases intractable hiccup in clinic, the report is as follows.
