摘要
为验证硼转换法测量金属钚质量的可行性,模拟计算并设计了一个10B转换靶。该方法是军控核查中测量金属钚质量的新方法,利用10B靶将金属钚自发裂变中子转化为478keVγ射线,由γ射线的计数信息反推算金属钚质量。研究重点是通过蒙特卡罗程序模拟中子-光子转化输运过程,调整10B靶体的各项参数(成分、厚度、位置、形状等)获得尽可能高的转换效率。优化模型的模拟计算结果使478keVγ射线产额在设计条件下超过10-5,满足公斤级金属钚的探测要求,为方案实施提供理论依据。
A new method for arms control inspections of metal plutonium has been developed. It measures the 478 keV T ray from ^10B（n, α） ^7Li reaction by neutrons generated in spontaneous fission of ^240Pu in metal plutonium being inspected. In this work, simulations were performed for the converting and transporting process of neutron-photon, and adjusting parameters of the ^10B target, including the ^10B content of the target, thickness of the target, and the geometry parameters, in an attempt to optimize the converting efficiency. The results show that the method could be achieved detection efficiency of gamma yield of 〉10^-5 per neutron, which allows the detection of kilogram of weapon-grade metal plutonium.
