老县场是历史文化名城常熟市中心最具场所意义的历史地段。文章基于现代城市设计的视角，探讨了该地段建筑设计中特定的文脉连续性表达途径及其设计处理手法。
Lao Xian Chang(county Town Plaza)is the historic district with the important 'Sense of Place' in the centrial area of Changshu, which is a famous historic town in China. The paper expounds the typical manner and expressive approach of architectural design for the specific context in the district, based on the viewpoint of modern urban design.
