Language Standardization in the Information Age

在教育大普及、媒体大普及和信息技术产品大普及的今天,必须尽快建立适合社会需要的语言文字标准体系。在信息化时代,语言文字标准已经具有了工业产品性质,语言文字标准化工作是国家标准化战略的一部分,也是语言文字工作的基础。时代要求我们必须全面把握语言文字规范的宏观体系,树立新世纪的语言文字规范观,统筹协调地做好语言文字标准化工作。

China has seen great popularization of education, mass media and information technological products. It is imperative to establish a system of language standardization for Chinese to meet the growing social needs. In the information age, language standards have become products with industrial features. The work of language standardization is, therefore, part of the national standardization strategy as well as the basis of language policy. The current age urges us to wisely manage the macro system of language standardization, to take a new perspective of language standardization, and to coordinate the work of standardization.
