This article observes the topic of international migration with a special focus on its definition and types. A detailed definition of international migrants is given, together account on the current international migration trend. The author classifies the international into six basic groups, emphasizing that different types of migrants might be interchanged with an migrants ~ Inthe meantime, the author places the studies of overseas Chinese and ethnic Chinese in the context of international migration, and corrects some obvious misconceptions on the topic caused by lacking the basic understanding of the necessary knowledge.
