摘要
针对笛卡尔式的心灵观念,皮尔士提供了一种关于心灵的符号学分析,认为所有的心理事件都是依据符号而展开的有效推理。这样一来,思想并非居住在人的头脑里面(笛卡尔的观点),而是居住在我们用来交流的公共符号结构里,所以在本质上是公共的。皮尔士的这种心灵观完美地体现在其"思想-符号"理论之中。
Targeting the Cartesian conception of mind, Peirce provides a semeiotic analysis of mind. Analysis shows that each mental event is a kind of valid inference which develops by signs.Then, we can conclude that thoughts do not reside in human's brain, but in our public structure of signs by which we communicate. Therefore, thought is public by its nature. Peirce's conception of mind is perfectly embodied in his theory of thought-sign.
