A basic research of the image information processing technology--image feature extraction is introduced, the development and two application background of the color feature extraction technology, which are image retrieval and affection semanteme of image, are mainly discussed, it opens out the important effect of color feature extraction in the field of content-based image retrieval and affection recognition of image. It sums up the commonly used research methods, and proposes to the existing problems and deficiencies. Finally, it suggests the new research ideas, and composes out the outlook of the future research.
