Ming Shu,compiled by the Qing Dynasty historian and Bianxiu(Editor) of the Hanlin Academy Fu Weilin(1608—1667),is a history of the Ming dynasty arranged into zhuan (‘biographies').Because it was included in the Siku Quanshu compilation but given a negative evaluation, scholars have a misunderstanding and a low regard for this work. The author is opposed to the negative assessment of the work by the editors of Siku Quanshu Zongmu, and shows how it was influential for the compilation of the later Ming Shi,arguing its value for historiography of the Ming Dynasty and providing a complete, objective and balanced assessment of Ming Shu.
