Shen Congwen’s Writing and Western Classical Music

对西方古典音乐的热爱有助于沈从文形成自己独特的“美的宗教”，音乐滋养了他的灵魂和艺术想象。他自觉地在文学创作中实验作曲方法，用语词模仿音乐。现代中国的音乐抒情文学这一新类型和新风格，在沈从文手中趋于成熟。他通过三个基本途径在文学中表现音乐：声音、结构和主题（以及将三者综合起来的意象），其音乐化创作对音乐-文学关系研究具有重要意义。

Shen Congwen＇s passion for western classical music contributed to the establishment of his unique aesthetics by nourishing his soul and artistic imagination. Shen adopted techniques of musical composition in his creative writing such as music-imitating vocabulary. The musical lyric literature as a new genre and style in modem Chinese literature matured in Shen＇s works. Shen represented music through sound, structure, theme and the imagery integrating the three in literature. A study on his musical writing will be rewarding in researching the relationship between music and literature.
