嵇康思想充满着矛盾,淋漓尽致地展现出了时代的风貌。他认为,人生要解决"三大困境":一是"情礼困境",解决方式是人应该"从欲",但不应"嗜欲";二是"自然与名教的困境",即社会规范与人的自由之间矛盾的体现,应按"摈弃智慧、显情无措"的方式来解决这一困境;三是"生死困境",解决方式是从容面对,慨然赴死。

Ji Kang＇s thinking is full of contradictions and shows the style and feature of his times completely. He held that there were three plights to handle in one＇s life. The first one is the ＂humanity and standard plight＂, and the handling is to follow desire but not to be addicted to it. The second one is the ＂nature and famous teachings plight＂, namely, an expression of contradictions between social standard and man＇s liberty, and this can be dealed with by getting rid of wisdom and by following one＇s principles but taking no measures. The third one is the ＂life and death plight＂, and the handling is to go to one＇s death unflinchingly.
