Just have a look at the facts: In a single day, 45,000 electronic orders were placed; RMB20,000 of sales value was realized every minute, and over 40,000 items of clothing were sold each day. These achievements were made by several new e-business websites, which left many large shopping malls and supermarkets trailing. According to a survey jointly released by Beijing Municipal Commission of Commerce (BMCC)and Beijing Electronic Commerce Association (BECA)on July 7, the campaign themed with 'safe and inexpensive shopping online' has been launched for one month by the end of June. During the campaign, about 60% of the website visitors were from outside Beijing, and sales value rose by an average of 30% among 31 participating enterprises, with the accumulated sales value of Leyou.com, Joyo Amazon, 360buy.com and Vancl.com exceeding RMB500 million. From May 31 to August 31, Beijing citizens may enjoy online shopping carnival at more than 10 famous shopping websites. The campaign involves 30 famous websites and online shops of 51 traditional famous enterprises with nearly 100 established brands. Is the real economy ready for the challenge?
