The Euro-Asian Geo-political Situation in the Wake of the Russia-Georgia Conflict

俄格冲突发生近一年来,欧亚地区的地缘政治形势有五大特点:独联体分化的趋势更加明显;区域合作继续向前推进,但遇到的阻力增大;能源合作受到广泛的关注,但竞争更加激烈;地区形势总体上稳定,但安全领域出现了新的挑战;大国在欧亚地区的博弈仍在继续。总的来说,俄格冲突没有从根本上改变欧亚地区的地缘政治格局。

Five feathers of the geo-political situation in the Euro-Asian region emerged in the wake of the Russia-Georgia conflict. First of all,the disintegration trend of the CIS has become more prominent. Secondly,although met with increasing impediment,regional cooperation is making steady progress. Thirdly,energy cooperation has attracted much attention,but there is a fierce competition involved. Fourthly,there have emerged new security challenges. Finally,the game of big powers in the Euro-Asian region is continuing.
