Succumbing to the Reality and Slipping the Leash of Nihility——An analysis of A Letter in the Cement Barrel

《水泥桶里的一封信》是日本无产阶级作家叶山嘉树的代表作之一。通过文本分析,可以看到女工的信件中,在包含有可能会给予主人公松户与三积极影响的异质性因素的同时,也包含着有可能会对其产生消极影响的同质性因素。本文在此分析的基础上剖析松户与三的人物形象,并进而挖掘小说中所隐含的深刻主题。

The present paper is an attempt at re - analyzing the personality of the protagonist Matudoyozou in A Letter in the Cement Barrel--a representative work by the Japanese proletarian writer Hayamayoshiki. The study indicates that while the letter of the female worker embodies positive factors for Matudoyozou, it brings about negative factors as well. Through analyzing the personality of Matudoyozou, this paper further explores the profound theme of the novel.
