英汉语主题的结构与功能

On the Strucfure and Function of English Chinese Sentences

主题是属于话语层面的概念,它表示在特定的语境中,说话人在说话意愿形成时,首先存在于他头脑中的、并被他选定的作为评述的中心或出发点的事物;反映在语段中,主题就是上文提及过的,在当前句子中又被谈论的某一话语实体。本文从主题的概念界定入手,较为详细地分析了主题的含义以及在结构和功能方面表现出来的普遍特征,以期对英汉两种语言中出现的主题结构有更为明确的认识和把握。

Based on the definition of TOPIC, this paper gives real insights into the profound implications of this conception and its general characteristics displayed by its grammatical structure. Meanwhile, it also reveals that topic-comment construction is anunique syntactic device, both in Chinese and English, employed to fulfill certain discourse functions.
