Three Themes of Frankfurt School' s Critique of Instrumental Reasons

工具理性批判理论是法兰克福学派在20世纪40年代之后对早期批判理论的发展,这一理论主要体现为三个主题:即技术进步与理性的工具化、工具理性与文化工业的发展、希望的消失与人的存在方式的转变。通过工具理性批判,法兰克福学派揭示出组织化资本主义社会的灰色场景,同时也展示出其自身理论中的悲观情结。但这种悲观还没有达到绝望的地步,对另一种希望的憧憬构成了工具理性批判理论的内在追求。

Critique of instrumental reasons is a developed form of Frankfurt School' s early critical theory of 1940s. There are three themes in the theory of critique of instrumental reasons:technical progress vs reasons being reduced to means, instrumental reasons vs cultural industry being developing, and disillusion of hope vs ways of human existence being transformed. Through critique of instrument reasons, Frankfurt School displays a dismaying scene of the organized capitalism and pessimism, though not at all despair, in the theory per se. There is hope of another kind, which is intrinsic to the theoretic goal of the critique of instrument reasons.
