A series of novel dimers of 15-membered macrolides was synthesized and evaluated. The dimers exhibited excellent activity against erythromycin-susceptible S. pneumonia, but did not show any improved activity against erythromycin-resistant S. pneumoniae encoded by erm gene. ?2009 Shu Tao Ma.
