The paper introduces a new GPRS based remote monitoring and alarming system for elevator, which consists of remote data terminal; GPRS data transmission network, remote monitoring center. It also describes how the hardware for data collection terminal is designed, which is used to perform the elevator operational data collection and the communication between the terminal and monitoring center. It uses the object-oriented programming idea from Visual C ＋ ＋ to design the software for the host computer of the elevator＇s remote monitoring system, to perform dynamic display of the elevator＇s operational status and faults, as well as the management and record of client information and fault database.
