On the Equivalent Translation of Idioms from the Differences between British and Chinese Cultures

语言是文化的载体,习语是语言的精华。英汉两个不同的民族由于地理环境、生活习惯、宗教信仰、历史典故等的差异孕育了不同的习语,也构成了习语翻译上的障碍。在英汉习语的翻译过程中,需要根据等值翻译理论,根据具体情况,采用不同的翻译方法,跨越文化障碍,实现翻译的等值。

Language is the carrier of culture and idioms are the cream of the language.The two nations of the British and the Chinese have cultivated different idioms due to the differences in environments,customs,religions allusions etc.,thus formulated the barrier in the translation of idioms.In the process,the theory of equivalence translation should be applied and various methods should be used in accordance with concrete conditions to cross cultural barriers and realize the equivalence of translation.
