The Three Gorges dam is commonly referred to as the largest construction project in china since the Great Wall.The project was approved in 1992 and construction began in 1994.The reservoir reached its full depth earlier this year,but it is not scheduled to be fully operational until 2011.The project has had a massive impact on the lives of people who live along the Yangtze River.
