By using the method of content analysis, this paper regards China-related reports of The New York Times and The Times during 2004 to 2008 as object and discusses the changing image of China in the foreign media under the background of Beijing Olympic Games. The result shows that the number of China-related reports in the newspapers above increases significantly and their words are objective, but the materials used in the reports are subjective. In the two papers, China is such a country in which economy has developed rapidly, but the political environment is closure, social contradictions and contingencies occur frequently. The New York Times' attitude to China changes in a positive direction, but The Times has the trend of depo liticizing on the China-related reports. In this study, the extreme image of China has been amended in western media under the background of Beijing Olympic Games, but their preiudice still exists. Self shaping actions took by Chinese government is difficult to shake the stereotypes of the western media. The production of global-media-event is deeply affected by national interests.
