董桥是香港著名散文家、编辑、报人。数十年编辑生涯,批点中英文字,编校中外书籍,使其对翻译自有独到体悟。其对翻译的论述虽零散却不乏洞见,笔者将之稍事整理,权当理论的"脚注"。而董桥本人的译文,或改译他人之作,亦颇见功力,本文撷英数例,以窥其译风。董桥一生孜孜于文字,其对待翻译虚心严谨之态度,亦足资效仿。本文通过介绍董桥,旨在引起大陆学界对港台译家的关注。

A famous essayist,editor and journalist in Hong Kong,Dong Qiao has been spending years editing both Chinese and English books,he has thus gradually had his own insights into translation,which can be viewed as footnotes to systematical translation theories.This paper cites several of his translations to illustrate his unique artistic style of terseness and elegance,and his working attitude of modesty and responsibility.By introducing Dong Qiao the person and his works,this paper calls on more attention paid by Chinese Mainland scholars to their counterparts in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
