An Analysis of Modern Chinese Letter Words Phenomenon

字母词是现代汉语中一种新兴的词汇现象。汉语字母词有四种构成类型、两大特点。字母词的出现是语言动态变化的一种表现,主要有四个原因:与国外的交流,引入了许多新生事物;人们外语水平的提高,推动了字母词的广泛使用;大众传媒促成了字母词的推广;追求时尚和崇洋的心理加快了对字母词的吸收。同时,在字母词的使用上要注意滥用和误用。

With the development of Chinese reform and openning policy, the letter words used have become a tide increasing on the Chinese media, prints and conversations. This has caused the system of Chinese vocabulary to absorb a number of letter words. And this thesis focuses on discussing categories and characteristics, causes, and norm use of letter words and expressions. We consider that the appearance of letter words is a representation of the language change. There are four main causes： the communication with foreign introduces many new conceptions, the improvement of people ＂s foreign language level promotes the use of letter words extensively, the mass media drives the letter words used by more people and the mentality of nowadays people following the fad cause that they can accept the letter words faster. So, the used rule of letter words need criteria.
