A Probe into the Degree of Bureaucracy Revealed by Chinese University Websites

本文通过调查近100所海内外高校网站首页的新闻板块,对比了海内外大学有关学校领导新闻和学术新闻在数量和比例上的差异,得出了中国大学网站首页新闻的"官味度"偏高的结论,分析了其深层次原因是传统的"官本位"思想,并讨论了这种现象对社会所可能带来的影响。

By probing into the news section of the official websites of nearly 100 universities both home and abroad, this paper compares the difference between Chinese universities and their foreign counterparts in the number of news on leaders and its proportion to academic ones. The paper concludes that the news section of Chinese university websites reflects a relatively high degree of bureaucracy ,which can be traced back to China＇s ＂officialdom worship＂ tradition.
