According to the characteristic of the nutrient absorbability in sugarcane and the soil nutrient status, applying rational fertilizer is an important approach to increase sugarcane output and profitability in sugarcane production. In this article, soil testing and fertilizer recommendation in sugarcane home and abroad was reviewed, the soil nutrient status in Zhanjiang sugarcane area was discussed, and the content, the steps and the methods of the soil testing and fertilizer recommendation were suggested.
