阿拉伯地区城市形态不同于其他国家和地区,同时都面临现代转换的共同难题。本土城市形态学者以及英国、法国、德国、意大利和日本等国城市形态学者都一直对此产生浓厚的兴趣。概述传统伊斯兰城市形态研究的3个层次、15项议题和8项建议以后,主要关注该地区的城市形态历史、传统城市形态以及现代城市形态转换等3个方面的研究成果。

Urban morphology in Arab area presents many unique characteristics differing from other countries and areas, faces with same problem of modem transformation nowadays. Both local and foreign scholars from Great Britain, France, German, Italy and Japan and so on have taken great interest in it. After three levels, fifteen topics and eight advice of studies on traditional Islamic urban form being set forth, such three aspects as history of urban form, traditional urban form and its modem transformation have been focused
