The idea of iRoll is based on film shape force sensors mounted on a roll of a paper machine. The force sensor measures the force applied by the product that is being produced, such as the paper web, and tells about the runnability behavior and quality of the product. The iRoll system has an embedded measurement electronics module at the roll end and a digital radio link to send the data from the rotating roll. The receiver is connected to the automation network.
