词典中的性别之争——基于语料库的性别标记词调查

The Gender Controversy in Dictionaries——a Case Study of Gender Marker Entries Based on Corpus

使用语料库分析现行的英语学习词典中以后缀-"man"和-"woman"构成的复合词,发现了在处理这类有性别标识的词语时,词典的立目、释义等方面尚存在不足之处。通过对该问题的讨论,揭示问题背后反映的社会伦理因素,并探求在词典编纂中处理这类词的比较得当的方法。

This paper makes an analysis of compound entries with suffix ＂-man＂ and ＂-woman＂ from the middle-sized monolingual learner s dictionaries based on corpus.The study reveals that most middle-sized English dictionaries have improper treatment of lemma selection,definition of these words with gender markers.It is an attempt to explore a tentative way to deal with these marked words in dictionary compiling.
