摘要
词汇是英语写作最基本的材料,丰富的词汇运用是高质量作文的显著特征之一。然而针对词汇丰富性与写作质量相关性的实证研究在国内外并不多见。本文旨在通过实证研究探讨对于英语水平较高的学生来说,词汇丰富性对其英语写作质量是否有影响,以及在英语水平较高的学生当中,高分作文与低分作文在词汇丰富性上是否有显著差异。受试为两个自然班的64名英语专业四年级学生。研究结果发现:对于英语水平较高的学生,词汇丰富性对其英语写作质量有显著影响,高分作文与低分作文在词汇丰富性上也有显著差异。
Vocabulary is the basis of English writing, and the use of rich vocabularies is one of the obvious characteristics of high-quality writings. However, empirical studies on the correlation between lexical richness and writing quality have been rare both home and abroad. This empirical study aims to find out whether lexieal richness has any effect on writing quality and whether there is a significant difference on lexical richness between high-score compositions and low-score compositions as to high English level students. The subjects are sixty-four seniors of English major. The result shows that, as to high English level students,lexical richness has a significant effect on writing quailty, and there is also a significant difference between high-score compositions and low-score compositions.
