The paper mainly discusses the cross--cultural elements reflected in the masterpiece My country and My People by Lin Yutang from the perspective of his translation and quotation of some traditional Chinese poetry as well as the description of typical images of a Chinese, thus pointing out that as a renowned scholar with bilingual background, Lin Yutang is fully conscious of cross--cultural differences. Based on the eastern culture, Lin Yutang also seeks to fuse the western horizon of expectation and succeeds in creating the cross--cultural work My Country and My People.
