this paper aims to analyze the social and linguistic factors' influence on semantic change in English vocabulary. Mainly speaking, the social factors include social development, social context, social class, national feeling, racial feeling, gender different, and social value, and linguistic factors consist of generalization, specialization, amelioration, pejoration, metaphor and metonymy.
