The liquid crystalline and rhelogy properties of mesophase pitchs are of great importance for the manufacure,performance and structure of carbon materials,such as pitch carbon fibres,C/C composites.The effects of the viscosity variation,flow orientation and plastic deformation near the glass transition temperature on the processing of these materials are emphasized.
