Viewed from the seimiotic theories of Saussure and Peirce, in accordance with the possibility of wrong interpretants arising from the arbitrariness of the relationship between signifant and signifie and the fact that animals may accurately interpret the signs from their partners by relying on their mental pictures while human beings heavily rely on written or oral signs but seldom try to rebuild the mental pictures the original writer has, the paper advances that the correctness of a translation is decided by the similarity between the image the original writer creates and the image the translator restores.
