On the Entertainment Function of the Tang Dynasty’s Legends

唐代"有意为小说"的代表性作品是传奇小说。唐传奇注重作品的娱乐功能。作者多为文人,他们为求上层赏识以中科举,努力展现自己的才华文笔,自觉、有意识地进行小说创作,突破了史传的影响和束缚。他们强化小说的虚构特征,丰富小说的内容,像琐屑的日常生活小事、流传朝野的笑话和佳话、民间流传的精怪传说、有悖礼教但动人肺腑的爱情故事等,都成为了小说的题材。小说的娱乐功能还表现出内容"奇幻"、情趣"高雅"却又语言"谐谑"等相互融合的特征。

Legend fictions are representative works in the ＂Conscious Fictions＂ of the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Dynasty＇s legends all stress entertainment function. The writers are mostly literati, who, in order to be recognized by their superiors for passing imperial examinations, show their literary talent and good style of writing, consciously write fictions, ignore the influence and restrictions of history biographies, strengthen the fictive features of fictions, and enrich the contents of fictions.
