In the assay of Methanol Dehydrogenase (MDH) discussed in this article,NH + 4 stimulates the activity of MDH (by about 100%),furthermore,it leads to the oxazole formation from enzyme prosthetic group PQQ and glycine.Oxazole not only blocks the electron transport and decreases the enzyme activity,but oxidizes reduced dichlorophenolindophenol (DCPIP) in the reaction mixture,at last results in the bell shaped progress curve.
