A Critical Discourse Analysis of Speech Reporting

随着语用学和话语分析的兴起,关于言语引述的研究也有了新的发展。对新闻报道中转述引语的研究逐步转向其语篇和语用功能。以评价理论为基础对新闻报道中转述引语进行分析作为一种全新的尝试将丰富批评话语分析这一体系。通过从新闻转述方式、消息来源、转述动词三方面分析《纽约时报》中新闻转述引语的态度资源、介入外部声音的种类和转述动词的语势,考察报道者如何运用它们来传达自己的观点并试图揭示其中隐含的意识形态,以及它们如何直接或间接地影响并控制读者的思维。

The emergence of pragmatics and discourse analysis has given rise to some new developments in the study of speech reporting and researches focus on the discourse-pragmatic function of reported speech. Analysis of reported speech under the appraisal theory is a new approach, which enriches critical discourse analysis. Drawing on the ap- praisal theory and choosing news reports on New York Times as data, this paper analyzes reported speeches from the perspectives of modes, sources and reporting verbs. With detailed analysis of attitudinal resources, heterogloss and force, this paper investigates how reporters convey their ideas and how the underlying ideologies influence and control readers directly or indirectly.
