The theory teaching in Higher Vocational Education should be paid to great attention and given the deserved position. Through the discussion on the teaching method of transimission ratio of compound gear train, the paper explains that in the situation of gradually decreasing theory class hours, the teachers can also gain the expected teaching effect by means of improving teaching methods.
