英美报刊阅读是为高等学校英语专业学生开设的一门必修课程,其教学目的是使学生熟悉并掌握新闻英语的特点,积累阅读英文报刊所需要的社会和文化背景知识。为此,报刊应从多维视角进行选材,做到融思想性、趣味性、知识性、时效性、文化性为一体,这样才能提高学生的综合素质。

＂British-American Newspaper Reading＂ is a required course for English Majors whose teaching goal is to familiarize students with the characteristics of newspaper English and to accumulate social and cultural background knowledge required in English newspaper reading. Therefore, to improve the students＇ comprehensive competence, the selection of teaching materials should be made from various perspectives such as thought, interest, knowledge, timeliness, culture, etc.
