The poems of D. H. Lawrence are somewhat autobiographical. We can find in his poems the traces of his life experiences, passionate love and philosophical thoughts. This paper aims to discuss ＂the sense of darkness＂ presented in the poems so as to analyze his contradiction and conflict in love and life, and his frame of mind facing the coming death in his late years.
